The ruling National Resistance Movement officials have pitched a camp in Igara East County Bushenyi district to drum up support for the NRM candidate Andrew Martial ahead of the Thursday Dec 14th by-election.
Those already on the ground are Omodo Omodo, John Turinawe, all from the NRM secretariat and Ashraf Rweyeshera, a cadre from western Uganda.
Others include; Hassan Bassajabalaba, the Bushenyi district NRM party chairman, Hon Donozio Mugabe Kahonda, (Ruhinda South), Hon Charles Ngabirano, (Rwampara), Hon Rosette Kajungu, (MP Woman Mbarara) among others.
The officials arrived in Igara East County in Bushenyi district last week to drum up support for Andrew Martial, the NRM candidate.
The group has appealed for cohesion in the party and avoid divisions.
The group addressed supporters on Crane Radio last night where they called for unity from supporters to overcome opposition.
Meanwhile, the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leaders are also in Igara East to give support to Christine Ninsiima Bekunika.
Six candidates are contesting the Igara East Parliamentary bye elections scheduled for Thursday.
They are Andrew Martial (NRM), Michael Maranga Mawanda (independent), Christine Bekunika Ninsiima (FDC), Benjamin Katana, Kananura Bedards, Armstrong David, all Independents.
The Greater Bushenyi regional Police commander, Eddie Serujonji, has called for discipline during the remaining days of campaign and election warning that whoever is found disrupting the exercise will be arrested.
