Besigye visits family of Nasasira who was killed by police


Former presidential candidate Kizza Besigye on Saturday visited the family of Edson Kakuru Nasasira who was shot dead by police in Rukungiri stadium.

A post-mortem report made on the body of the deceased confirmed that the young man was shot.

Besigye visited the grave of Nasasira and laid a wreath on it.

He also comforted the family as well as neighbors’ for losing a promising lad.

He was killed during a clash between police and supporters of Kizza Besigye and Patrick Amuriat at Rukungiri stadium in Rukungiri town.

The report contradicted police claims that pinned the case of murder on Besigye claiming the youth was killed by fellow protestors.

Police even went ahead and arrested Besigye, Ingrid Turinawe, FDC mobilisation secretary as well as party president Patrick Amuriat.

Four other victims of the shooting are; Junior Aijuka, 18, a resident of Rwakabengo, who was shot in the stomach; Farouk Bangirana, shot in the right leg and genitals; Julius Turyomunsi, a resident of Nyakagyeme shot in the back and Christopher Muhwezi shot in the stomach.
