The Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee is meeting President Yoweri Museveni today at State House Entebbe to get his views on the Constitution Amendment Bill 2017.
Presidential press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi, said the Presidential Press Unit [PPU] will cover the 3pm meeting of the committee chaired by Hon. Oboth Oboth and the president.
“We shall share pictures, text and video after meeting,” Nabusayi said.
The bill tabled by Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi seeks to scrap the presidential age limit from between 35 and 75 years.
The committee has been seeking views from various stakeholders on the bill.
Makerere law lecturers, religious council and senior politicians like former Prime Minister Apollo Nsibambi and Kizza Besigye rejected the invites by the committee.
The committee has now resolved to meet Museveni as one of the people who support of the bill that will make him a life president.
The committee chairperson Jacob Oboth-Oboth says the committee will establish whether Museveni is the sole beneficiary of the bill.
