A court in Mbarara town on Monday charged three Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] youth with treason.
The suspects are Edgar Ahabwe, Amatsiko Monday, and a one Yassin.
They have been in detention at Mbarara Police Station where they were held without charge.
On Monday, they were produced in court on charges of treason and attempting to overthrow the government by use of arms.
They have been consequently remanded to Kyamugolani (Mbarara prison) pending trial.
Ahabwe Edgar, the FDC youth chairperson Mbarara district was reported missing at the close of October this year.
He was neither at home nor his work place in Kampala for almost two weeks while his phones remained switched off.
FDC activists led by the party mobilisation secretary, Ingrid Turinawe, at the start of November visited Nalufenya detention facility in Jinja town searching for the youth and his two colleagues.
“We are desperate to see Ahabwe Edgar the FDC Youth Chairman Mbarara. The Good News is that we are now sure that Edgar and two others are at the facility. The bad News is that the men in charge of this facility have refused us to see them,” Ingrid said at the time.
