Human Rights Network for Journalists-Uganda (HRNJ-Uganda) Lawyer Diana Nandudu has been arrested with journalist Francis Timwekwasize for visiting Kira Road Police Station.
The duo, according to Robert Ssempala, the coordinator of HRNJ-Uganda, had gone to handle another case in which an investigative reporter and Director of the Investigator magazine, Ndawula Stanley, was arrested and detained by police.
Ndawula and his brother Robert Ndawula are held on charges of offensive communication under computer misuse act.
Journalists who went to visit him had to go through grilling sessions and were forced to record statements and later hunted by police for taking pictures with the detainees.
Operatives from Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Wednesday searched Ndawula’s home in Kulambiro and his offices in Kisasi, Kampala suburbs.
He has since been denied police bond and neither is he being produced to court for a formal charge, according to a statement by the Online Media Publishers Association [OMPA] president, Giles Muhame.
