Old Kampala Police Station is holding a born again pastor for allegedly defiling a 17-year female choir member.
The arrest of Pastor Ronald Regan Katende, 31, of Siloam Pool Ministries Wakasanke Lugala brings to four the number of pastors arrested in Kampala in connection to child defilement this year.
Joyce Nalubule (not her real name) first arrived at Siloam Pool Ministries with depression, hopelessness and much hope for spiritual relief, comfort and miracles.
With her heart touching testimony, the pastor brought the child from her family about 6 months ago with promises of supporting her education and welfare.
He ushered her into a home where he keeps most of other stranded children he cares for while promising chances of getting her sponsors to reduce on her life burden and encouraged her to join the church choir.
Nalubule was later seduced, compromised and exploited sexually by Pastor Regan. Subsequently the pastor realised she was pregnant and lost interest prompting her to return back to the relatives.
Pale as she looked, narrated how terrible, cruel the pastor had become, the conditions she had gone through and revealing her pregnancy too. This prompted the relatives to storm police and help in arresting the pastor.
A GEF 12/2017 was opened up with charges of defilement, trafficking for sexual exploitations preferred.
It has been noted that a number of girls reporting to Old Kampala Police over the same since his arrest has so far risen to four.
Defilement is a capital offence and if found guilty a person is liable to a maximum death sentence.
Several pastors of different religious denominations have lately been reported on various accusations of extortion, sexual harassment, enslavement, defilement and fraud against their flock.
