Soldiers from the national army UPDF shot and killed a petrol station manager before robbing him of Shs44m on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, Asan Kasingye, identified the deceased as Bagyendera Edson, the manager of Kasambya Petrol Station in Mubende district.
He was shot dead at Kisojo while going to bank.
Kasingye said police in Mubende have arrested Pte Mugarura and Musota a mechanic in connection with Bagyendera’s murder.
Pte Mugarura is attached to Lira Army Barracks. Another veteran is on the run with the killer gun.
The incident comes shortly after a counter-terrorism team from the Special Forces Command over the weekend recovered one AK-47 assault rifle, military uniforms and several unexploded ordinances in an operation in the districts of Pader, Otuke, Lira and Soroti.
Major Chris Magezi, the public relations officer, says SFC was working in coordination with both 4th and 5th Division Headquarters of the UPDF as well as Police.
The operation was coordinated by a special reconnaissance unit under the office of the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations (SPA/SO), Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
An AK-47 rifle was found buried at a home of one Orioko Jasper, a resident of Amen A Parish in Soroti County, while other ammunition were recovered from an anthill in Nakatunya Sub County also in Soroti.
In Pajule Sub County in Pader, two Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs) and a hand grenade, were found hidden in an anthill, they were recovered and destroyed by explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) experts who were part of the operation.
Another two 60mm mortar bombs were recovered and destroyed in Olilim Trading Centre, in Otuke.
Two pairs of military uniform were also found with one Okeng Patrick of Adwari Sub- County also in Otuke.
