The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has condemned the ugly scenes that happened in parliament after opposition legislators resisted a forceful eviction mounted by officers from the Special Forces Command.

In a statement, Mayiga said the kingdom is watching the developments taking place in the country.

He said matters to do with the constitution affect all Ugandans and like the rest of the citizens, the people of Buganda are concerned that whenever there is acrimony on matters touching upon the sanctity of the constitution tensions rise.

He called for extreme caution regarding the way constitutional matters are handled in order for avoid tensions or consequential conflicts.

The Katikkiro has called for observation of both individual and common rights of the people as the debate on the amendment of the Constitution to lift Presidential age limits heats up.

Currently Mukono MP Betty Nambooze and Mityana MP Francis are hospitalised after being badly beaten by soldiers and tortured in police cells.

Kampala Capital City Authority [KCCA] Councillor Segirinya Muhammad was also brutalised during the age limit demonstrations and is hospitalised in Wampeewo.
