President Kaguta Museveni on Monday had a chance to hold his “grandson”, baby Kaguta.
Presidential press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi, said the newly born son of Iganga Woman MP contender Brenda Asinde was handed to the president shortly before addressing a rally at Nakigo primary school.
The president held the baby for a while and showed him around, smiling and playing with him.
Asinde gave birth last week long just days towards the Thursday election in which she faces Nakato Mariam (Independent), Naigaga Mariam Nantale (FDC), Aziza Kakerewe (Independent) and Olivia Kwagala Mawanda.
The seat fell vacant after Hailat Kaudha Magumba succumbed to pregnancy-related complications in May.
Over the weekend, NRM’s Asinde and FDC’s Naigaga Mariam exchanged bitter words sparking off a confrontation that left their supporters of injured, arrested or hospitalised.
President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday campaigned for Asinde.
