Crime preventer murdered, watchman speared, bar manager stabbed over Shs2,000

The Police in Rukiga district are searching for unknown people who murdered Deus Twinomugisha, 49-year-old crime preventer and resident of Murambi, Nyarurambi parish in Rwamucucu sub-county in Rukiga district.

Twinomuisha was last seen at Iborozya trading centre in one of the bars.

Joventa Busingye, the deceased’s wife, and John Muhumuza, the Nyarurambi parish internal security officer, told the state-run New Vision the deceased’s body was later found lying in a path.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, said Ambrose Mugabirwe and Baraka Ntegyerize have already been arrested in connection with the murder.

In the same district, police is holding an 80-year-old man for allegedly spearing his son to death over land disputes.

Charles Katarakwenda, a resident of Nyakiharo cell, Mwanjari ward, Southern Division in Kabale Municipality, is reported by Uganda Radio Network [URN] to have speared Andrew Ndyareeba who was aged 42 on Friday at around 3pm while at their home in Nyakiharo.

Ndyareeba was a night watchman at Ndorwa Secondary School in Kabale town. Katarikwenda is said to have given Ndyareeba a piece of land two years ago as a share on the family property.

Katarikwenda later withdrew the land leading to a quarrel. The old man then picked a spear and stabbed Ndyareeba on the left shoulder who died before reaching Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

URN also reports the arrest of a 20-year-old man in Mbarara for allegedly killing his friend for failure to pay back Shs2,000.

Anatori Kakuru, a bar manager at Ever Smart Lodges reportedly stabbed 26-year-old Amon Ariyo, also a manager at a nearby Byafirigo Bar and Lodges in Kijungu cell-Kakoba division in Mbarara Municipality.

The two engaged in a fight on Friday. Kakuru is said to have picked a knife and stabbed Ariyo in the chest.

Ariyo was pronounced dead moments later as arrangements to take him to Mbarara regional referral hospital were underway.

The deceased’s body was taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital for a post-mortem.
