Three Members of Parliament were on Monday arrested by police in Budaka District for staging a demonstration over Mbale-Tirinyi-Nakalama road.
Pamela Nasiyo, (Budaka District Woman), John Baptist Nambeshe, (Manjiya County) and Silas Aogon, the Kumi Municipality MP, were arrested at Kakori Trading Centre.
They were charged with holding an unlawful assembly and inciting the public against Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).
UNRA Ag. Executive Director, Edna Rugumayo, last week said they were addressing the matter so the road works can continue.
In May 2017, UNRA terminated the contract that was awarded to Dott Services to rehabilitate the road because the contractor did not want to be supervised.
Meanwhile, Buikwe District Woman MP, Judith Babirye, has been dragged to Commercial Court for fraudulently selling a piece of land in Kitende to two different people.
Joseph Ojok, the plaintiff, says Babirye sold him the land located in Busiro County at Kitende Kawoto at Shs220m.
He paid Shs100m but before he could pay a balance of Shs120m, Babirye sold off the land to another person and later pledged to refund his money within six months.
She has never refunded the money. Ojok is now seeking payment of Shs40 million in interest from the date the cause of action arose.
Court gave the legislator 15 days to defend herself.
