3 arrested in Mukono shooting of Chinese woman

Police has in custody three people suspected to have participated in the murder of a Chinese national and an employee of Nile Steel and Plastics Ltd factory in Mukono district.

Police spokesperson, Asan Kasingye, told press on Monday that they have started inquiries into the murder of a Chinese national identified as Young Yei Su, 50 years of age who killed on Friday.

Yei has been a cashier at Nile Steel and Plastics Ltd Factory in Nangwa Village Nakisunga Sub County in Mukono district.

This incident occurred on 01.09.2017 when two assailants gained access to the factory through the main gate towards the administration block pretending to be customers.

They put the deceased on gun point demanding the money. She did not comply.

During the struggle to grab the pistol, she managed to grab a jacket from the assailant which was sleeveless and sky blue in colour.

She was shot in the chest by the assailant, and was rushed to Namirembe Hospital for treatment but unfortunately, she died on arrival.

The assailants escaped using a motor cycle. “We have arrested three (3) people in relation to this incident,” Kasingye said.

He identified the suspects as Joseph Narudaaka Robert Kataala, Ogwal Francis, a security guard called Global Security Company and Julius Katongole an employee of the company.

“We have recorded statements of witnesses, and recovered a video footage of the incident as well as other exhibits which we are using in the investigations.”
