Hon. Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi has promised to put an end to Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] internal conflicts to organise the party and oust President Yoweri Museveni from power.

Oboi was over the weekend addressing Ankole delegates at Grand Holiday Hotel in Mbarara town.

The delegates came from the nine districts of Ankole sub region including; Mbarara, Isingiro, Bushenyi, Sheema, Buhweju, Kiruhura, Mitooma, Isingiro and Rubirizi.

Rev.Canon Mutatiina who delivered a prayer before the meeting, said he supports all efforts and forces to make Uganda a better place to live in.

He called opposition strongman Kizza Besigye’s defiance campaign a godly thing citing the Hebrew boy Moses who defied any Egyptian Pharaoh.

“God works with us,” the reverend said, calling on heaven blessings to ensure Oboi succeeds in the party elections.

During the meeting, Oboi told delegates that his leadership will be on four issues; party cohesion, reclaiming our victory, women and youth and vibrant structures.

Oboi said he has not conflicted with anybody because he comes with clean hands into the party elections.

“I will be speaking to everybody. Conflicts are going to be the matters of the party. I will resolve rather than fuel conflicts.”

On reclaiming FDC victory allegedly stolen by President Yoweri Museveni during the 2016 elections, Oboi said they have oriented people to put pressure on the regime change.

“We have chances with the age limit. We are going to do this through defiance.”

He said Museveni is going to cause himself trouble when he tries to remove the age limit clause. “Go energised for I will lead you from the front and I won’t let you down.”

On women and youth, Oboi called on members to give them hope and empower them. “We are going to have a leadership academy to skill our people mostly youth and women into leadership.”

On vibrant structures, Oboi said in his time, no branch office will be closed for even a single minute.

“I will move and I will be a people’s party president and I will leave amongst you. I will be a president of the party who will be amongst you. I will take three years instead of five because it’s expensive to host them. That’s 400m shillings savings.”

He said FDC party district party branches will be commercial centres to promote the branches.

“I will use my professional knowledge to develop a business center at Najjanankumbi.”

Oboi said he is not contesting to remove Mugisha Muntu but to bring a new ideology that general Muntu doesn’t believe in.

“As I stand I have one vote what I request you is to see my program and I request that you will give me that one vote each of you. We stand as the most credible opposition.”

He added: “It’s us that Ugandans have hope in. Other parties have died. If you don’t vote well on that well you would have betrayed Uganda not only the FDC.”

Speaking earlier at Diz Motel in Bukomansimbi, Oboi said FDC needs a leader that will give life to the party.

He told Buddu delegates from Masaka, Kalangala, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Sembabule, Lyantonde, Rakai and Kyotera that people are tired of words and they now want a Party President who will lead with actions.
