Buhweju County Hon Francis Mwijukye has received direct papal blessings and showered them onto Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] party presidential candidate, Hon Patrick Amuriat Oboi.
On August 23 at 10:37am, Mwijukye posted on his social media that he had just arrived in Rome for International Catholic Legislators Network Conference.
The conference ended on 27th August with the legislator meeting with Pope.
On August 25 at 1:13pm, Mwijukye shared pictures of himself with in St Peters Basilica in the Vatican.
“St. Peter’s Basilicca here at the Vatican. We shall be meeting the holy father on 27th. International Catholic legislators network conference,” he said.
On August 26 at 12:49pm, Mwijukye was at the ICLN Conference in Rome, where African chapter led Mass.
“Receiving Holy Communion from the Arch Bishop of Lahore, Pakistan H.E Arch Bishop Sebastian Francis Shaw. Also Hon Thomas Tayebwa receiving Holy Communion from Archbishop of Vienna, His Eminence Cardinal Christoph Schonborn. Meanwhile, the conference is still going on,” he wrote.
On August 27, Mwijukye met Pope Francis and kissed the Holy Person to receive blessings before returning to Uganda.
“A wonderful moment with the successor of St Peter the Rock on which the church is built. Just met His Holiness Pope Francis,” the legislator shared his excitement on social media.
On Wednesday, August 30, Mwijukye who had returned to the country, met Amuriat and his campaign team that has been traversing Busoga region.
According to FDC mobilisation secretary, Ingrid Turinawe, Mwijukye showered the blessings received from the Pope onto Amuriat.
“And team POA shares on the blessings from the Pope. Hon. Mwijukye comes back from Rome with Rosaries for us. Hon. Hassan Fungaro also on the list to receive. We are TEAM POA. POA is for action. We are One Uganda One people,” Ingrid said on social media.
