Kadaga orders probe into Entebbe women murders

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has called for urgent action by security agencies in regard to containing Entebbe municipality murders of women.

Police Flying Squad on Monday arrested Alfred Ssenoga, a prime suspect linked to the rape and murders of women in Nansana and Entebbe municipality Wakiso district.

Flying squad commandant, Herbert Muhangi, said Ssenoga suspected to have murdered a one Regina Zawedde on August 17, in Bulaga Buloba parish, was picked from Mpigi.

Addressing press at parliament on Tuesday, Kadaga condemned the recent brutal and grotesque murders of women and appealed to government to ensure that the constitutional rights of women and their safety are protected.

Kadaga has directed the Ministers concerned to give an explanation to the country what is going on.

“I convey my sincere condolences to the families of the victims of these senseless murders,” Kadaga said.

MP Jovah Kamateeka [Mitooma district] appreciated the efforts of police in investigating these murders but insisted Ugandans expect more.

In the last two to three months, women between ages 20-35 years have been murdered in suspected serial murders where the victims are first sexually-assaulted before they are murdered and sticks inserted into their private parts in Nansana and Entebbe municipality in Wakiso district.

The murders have so far claimed the lives of 12 women in Entebbe and 6 others in Nansana.

More than 16 people who include boyfriends, husbands of the victims and a witch doctor among others have been arrested in Entebbe in relation to the serial murders.
