Voters line up to vote in Uganda

The Electoral Commission has released road map to be followed for the Local Council and Women council elections.

Elections for the Local Council One will be held on November 21, 2017, according to EC chairperson, Justice Byabakama.

Byabakama told press in Kampala on Thursday that the election programme starts in October. Registration of residents into a voters’ register will be held on November 26 and 30, 2017.

This will be followed by a display of voter’s register, nomination and campaigning.

Voting will be by lining behind the nominated candidates instead of the secret ballot.

Uganda has 59315 villages and last had Local Council one election 15 years ago. EC expects to spend Shs12.17bn in these elections.
