Fire gutted some of police officers residence at Katwe Police station, Uganda police said in a social media statement Thursday.
“We have put out the fire and investigating the cause,” the statement said.
According to the report, property worth millions was destroyed in the fire that started at about 09:00 hours.
According to Siraje Bakaleke, the commander for Kampala Metropolitan Police South, the fire could have resulted from an electric coil that was left unattended to in one of the houses.
He said fire prevention officers have been able to stop the fire from spreading and saved other homes.
In 205 and 2017 fire gutted part of Naguru police barracks.
