President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Justice Alphonse Owiny Dollo as the Deputy Chief Justice replacing Justice Steven Kavuma.
The appointment is contained in Museveni’s letter dated August 18, 2017 and addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga.
“In the exercise of powers vested in the president by article 142  of the 1995 constitution, I have, acting on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission, appointed persons listed below as Deputy Chief Justice and Justices of the Supreme Court,” Museveni wrote.
He appointed Justices Richard Butera and Paul Mugamba to the Supreme Court.
“This is therefore to forward to you their names and curriculum vitae for parliamentary approval,” the letter added.
The letter is copied to the Prime Minister, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and the Chairman Judicial Service Commission.
