Police on Monday summoned UPDF Brig Kasirye Gwanga and charged him with malicious damage following a fatal clash with a city businessman.
Brig Kasirye appeared before Katwe Police Station officers where he recorded a statement regarding a grader he burnt for trespassing on his daughter’s land in Lubowa along Entebbe Road.
According to CID spokesperson, SP Vincent Sekate, Kasirye was later released on police bond.
The soldier burnt a grader during a land dispute with businessmen Hajji Musa Ssempebwa, Aloysius Sseruwagi, Hasan Semujju and a one David Wakabi who claims to own the land.
Earlier reports had indicated that President Yoweri Museveni ordered Kasirye’s arrest over the matter.
