Gov’t resumes issuance of passports after shortage

Government has resumed the issuance of passports, months after it announced a shortage of ordinary passports.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the backlog that was caused by low stock will be cleared within the next two weeks.

In June, government announced that only patients travelling abroad for treatment, government officials and students with foreign scholarships would be given passports.

Internal Affairs says it will take ten working days to process passports through normal application, express passports will take two working days, after which operations will normalise.

Also proven emergency passport applications will continue to be given the urgent attention they deserve.
