Cops arrested as thugs break into CPS, steal guns

Central Police Station(CPS), Kampala Uganda

Six cops are currently in custody after unknown people broke into Kampala Central Police station (CPS) armoury and stole guns.

The incident happened on Saturday night. The thugs stole two AK47 guns and 60 rounds of ammunition.

The DPC ASP Gwaidho Bakaleke and station OC were away on the night of the incident.

The armoury man has also been arrested to help with the investigations.

In 2013 thugs broke into a prison armoury and made off with two submachine guns and 54 bullets in Kamuge Prisons in Pallisa District.

In 2012, 11 submachine guns were stolen from security operatives.

In the same year, police recovered 49 guns, according to the 2012 crime report.
