Malawian singer-songwriter, Malaika, has released a new single – “Falling For You” accompanied by a music video featuring Zimbabwean superstar Tytan.
The UK based singer released the video on July 28, urging women to be free to express themselves sexually.
Born Sheila Mkhumba, the singer who is based in Leeds doubles as an entrepreneur and recently completed a law degree.
She is into the lingerie business including marketing her own lingerie line, Avec Amour, challenges gender stereotypes encouraging women to go after what they want with her saucy song.
Inspired by American pop king Micheal Jackson, Mailaka says “Falling for you” is an afrobeats inspired pop song with a dancehall feel, the saucy song challenges gender stereotypes encouraging women to go after what they want, in this context a man, instead of always waiting for the guy to make the first move.
Talking about what inspired her to write the song Malaika says far too many women are unfulfilled and unhappy in relationships because they don’t feel they can express themselves sexually or communicate their desires without running the risk of being labelled “wild” or accused of cheating.
The music video is produced by Tawanda Sibotshiwe (Jusa Dementor) in association with Stage Works Films.
The new single was produced by UK #1 producer RYMEZ (Wiley – Heatwave.)
Malaika is currently receiving significant press and airplay around the world and we hope you will consider playing her song and/or doing an interview with her.
