Kayihura names Byakagaba as Kaweesi successor

The Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, has appointed Assistance Inspector General of Police (AIGP), Abas Byakagaba, to take up the position formerly occupied by the late AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

Byakagaba who has been the commandant of Senior Staff College Bwebajja, is now the director of Human Resource Development.

Kaweesi who occupied that position was shot dead in March this year.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Kafeero, who has been on training in Rwanda, will replace Byakagaba at the staff college.

AIGP Haruna Isabire has been transferred from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit and appointed as director Welfare and Production.

CP Fenny Kyomukama replaces AIGP Isabirye.

AIGP Andrew Sorowen who has been in charge of special duties is appointed as Police Sports Liaison Officer with the Ministry of Education and Sports, the National Council of Sports.

SSP Emmanuel Mukama who has been heading the Amison Mission unit in Somalia has been moved to the Very Important People Protection Unit.
