An ugly episode was recorded on Saturday during Youth Day Celebrations in Bundibugyo district when angry youth blocked a minister from addressing them.
Nakiwala Kiyingi, the minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, had prepared her speech to deliver to the youth at an event attended by President Yoweri Museveni.
After the president had taken his seat, a well-dressed Nakiwala stood up and walked smartly to the podium, ready to impress the head of state.
When she took the microphone and started to introduce her speech, a sudden noise broke out in the audience.
The youth began by murmuring and then raised their voices to an unbearable din.
The minister tried to shriek through the loud boos and protestations to no avail.
She looked around embarrassed, then at the MC of the day pleading to be rescued. The MC had no say in the matter as he gestured at her helplessly.
The minister then folded her speech and walked off the podium to the thunderous jeers and boos of the triumphant youth.
Her humiliation came in the same week angry Amuru district women stripped naked and blocked Lands minister, Betty Amongi, from surveying their land.
This also came weeks after an errant youth known as William Ntege blocked Kassanda South MP, Simeo Nsubuga, from prostrating before the Kabaka of Buganda at his 24th coronation ceremony in Mubende district.
It followed an incident at Namboole stadium where local government leaders poured water on Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister, Kahinda Otafiire, before kicking him out of the meeting.
