Moses Byamugisha, a former aide to Kizza Besigye, says he is now in line to capture power as far as the biggest opposition political party is concerned.
“I am mobilising young people to position ourselves to ensure that we are in the line for power,” Byamugisha said on Monday after being nominated by the party Electoral Commission to run for the party presidency.
Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] EC chairperson, Dan Mugarula, told the media at party headquarters in Najjanankumbi that Byamugisha has fulfilled all the requirements for the position.
Byamugisha spent a couple of weeks traversing the country and seeking for signatures to aide him secure the party’s top seat.
The youngest contender in the race, Byamugisha wants to reclaim the 2016 victory that was denied Besigye by President Yoweri Museveni.
His first step is to win the FDC presidency and then position the youth to take over the leadership of the country.
“I will propose the same to FDC leaders countrywide with proposals on how to streamline the party and its infrastructure,” he told press.
He said the FDC National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Council resolved that their win was stolen Museveni but would in due course reclaim it.
“I am the best person that can rally FDC supporters especially the young people on how best we can reclaim our victory of 2016,” he confidently stated.
