President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday visited the family of Late Brig. Taban Kyabihende in Bunga, Kampala, to condole with them.
Officers like Kyabihende who joined the struggle when young have made a great contribution, Museveni told mourners.
He said these officers played a crucial booster and multiplier effect in the bush war struggle.
“Kyabihende helped us recruit young Bakiga into the struggle,” Museveni said, adding, “When you see that Uganda is at peace and has contributed to regional peace, it is because these people sacrificed their adult lives for this.”
He called on the NRA, FRONASA and UPDF fraternity to support children of deceased comrades so that their sacrifice is not in vain.
“I will support Kyabihende’s children who are still studying.”
Brig Taban passed on at Nakasero hospital in Kampala due to a natural illness.
