Mbarara Chief Magistrates Court on Wednesday granted a cash bail to three youth who staged a protest against the scrapping of the presidential age limit, burying President Yoweri Museveni and Justice minister Kahinda Otafiire in the process.
The suspects applied for bail on July 20, through their lawyer, Wilson Agaba of Agaba and Company Advocates.
Mbarara Grade one Magistrate, Sanyu Mukasa, gave the three youth Shs1.5m cash bail while their sureties were each bonded for Shs1m non-cash.
The parents of Albert Nangumya, a student at Bishop Stuart University, raised the Shs1.5m cash bail and rescued him from jail.
Rodgers Asiimwe and Maxi Muhumuza, on the other hand, failed to pay the money as ordered and were returned to Kyamugoranyi government prison.
They will re-appear on August 11, 2017 to start hearing of their case.
