Uganda’s Josephine Lalam threw 51.89 metres to win a Javelin gold medal at the 2017 Youth Commonwealth Games in in Nassau, Bahamas.
Lalam, 16, represented Uganda in the Girls’ Javelin and grabbed early victory on Saturday.
She hit a record 51.89 meters just ahead of Australian Bowyer Ellie Frances who picked a silver medal at 50.64 meters.
England’s Howe Emma came third and took a bronze medal at 47.04 meters.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s swimmer, Atuhaire Ogola Ambala, lost the completion while athlete Sarah Chelangat came 4th and 10th in the 3000m and 1500m respectively.
Lalam’s gold becomes Uganda’s first medal at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth games.
