National Resistance Movement (NRM) electoral commission chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi, has warned security minister Gen. Henry Tumukunde to stay away from Tororo land matters.
Tanga was over the weekend attending a thanksgiving ceremony for West Budama South MP, Jacob Oboth Oboth, at Rubongi sub-county headquarters.
He reminded Tumukunde that Tororo was not as divided as the security minister imagines and that he won’t divide them any further.
“He should keep on security and the Tororo issue is a ministry of local government affair,” Tanga is quoted by the state-run New Vision as saying.
He accused Tumukunde of making evil moves by intimidating Tororo legislators and Tanga himself under guise of insecurity in the district.
“I am not easily intimidated. The world should hear what we are talking about is peace and not war,” Tanga told Tumukunde.
He added: “No amount of intimidation will make us lose sleep.”
According to Tanga, it is Tororo County South MP, Fredrick Angura, and minister of state for health in charge of general duties, Sarah Achieng Opendi, who are causing problems in Tororo.
In June this year, Tanga accused Tumukunde of misinforming President Yoweri Museveni about the alleged disharmony in Tororo.
“He has been fuelling chaos and misinforming the president that there is fire in Tororo,” Tanga said.
Delegations of the Japadhola and Itesots are set to meet Museveni at his country home in Rwakitura this week to settle their differences.
Museveni earlier met them at Kisozi ranch on May 30 over the same grievances.
