Arua Municipality MP Ibrahim Abiriga and Kassanda North MP Simeo Nsubuga say they will not be intimidated to back out of the presidential age limit bill.
The two legislators have vowed never to withdraw their support for scraping the presidential age limit unless the president himself says otherwise.
“Unless if he [Museveni] says he is unable, then to me, he is still a capable president,” Abiriga was quoted as saying.
“He [Museveni has brought development and political stability,” the legislator added.
Abiriga has been severe attack for reportedly saying that President Museveni should rule Uganda ‘pakalast’ [forever].
He is accused of allegedly leading a section of MPs to demand Shs350m loan bailout to scrap the presidential age limit from the First Lady, Janet Kataaha Museveni, who reportedly rolled out Shs4bn for this campaign.
Apparently, Janet met MPs; James Kakooza [Kabula county], Ashraf Olega [Yumbe central], Simeo Nsubuga [Current MP for Kassanda County South], Gordon Bafaki [Kazo county], Paul Amoru [Dokolo North], Hillary Lokwang [Ike county] and Abiriga [Arua Municipality].
Abiriga confirmed the meeting, saying the NRM MPs confirmed their support for the bill on condition that President Museveni pays them Shs350m each.
