Uganda Cranes Head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named his final 23 man squad to Kabale for the Western region tour with the match set for this Saturday at the Kabale Municipal Stadium.
“It is a very good squad and I expect them to deliver on Saturday. The players know the value of this match. I will also keep a close eye on the players from the Western region team,” said Micho shortly after training at Mandela National stadium.
FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein has confirmed that a minute of silence will be observed by the two teams and fans before kick off on Saturday.
The two sets of players will also wear black armbands in honour of the departed football administrators John Ssebaana Kizito (former FUFA Chairman) and Former Treasurer Michael Okiror.
Both veteran football administrators passed away on Monday this week.
Okiror was laid to rest on Thursday in Atutur, Kumi District while Ssebaana will be buried on Saturday.
“Ssebaana and Okiror were distinguished football administrators. Football fans in Kabale will pay their last respects in a very honourable manner when the players observe a minute of silence on Saturday,” said FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein.
The fans attended in big numbers on Thursday evening when the Western region Select team played a build-up match against Kabale Legends at the Municipal stadium.
A fan in Kabale Arinaitwe Peter said “I have never seen Uganda Cranes in action. This is my only opportunity to get to see these players much closer. I will get to the stadium as early as 9am on Saturday.”
