The ruling National Resistance Movement [NRM] Secretary General, Kasule Lumumba, has also joined the queue to congratulate Bobi Wine for winning Kyadondo East seat.
“I congratulate Bobi Wine and we are ready to work with you,” Lumumba was humble enough to accept defeat.
Bobi thrashed NRM’s Sitenda Sebalu, FDC’s Apollo Kantinti and other independent candidates to emerge as the new Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East in the Thursday election.
“The Kyadondo by-election has challenged us extremely. We need to go back to the drawing board to acquire numbers,” she said Thursday evening.
She added: “We as the NRM are very ready to work with Mr. Robert Kyagulanyi because the people have exercised their powers.”
Lumumba said NRM is ready to work with whoever is ready to work with NRM because our values are transparency, pan-Africanism and nationalism.”
Former presidential candidate, Kizza Besigye, was among the first people to congratulate the musician for winning the election.
“Landslide victory for the HE Bobi Wine. Congratulations-people power!” Besigye said even before the official announcement was made.
He added: “That’s why Wakiso people weren’t allowed to vote 2016Power has been cut off in the whole of Kyadondo East.”
Government spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo, too did not wait for an official announcement of the winner since the situation was obvious.
“So HE Bobi wine is beating everyone NRM, FDC hands down in Kyodondo East By-Elections. Congs although still early,” Opondo tweeted.
Kampala Central MP, Hon. Mohammad Nsereko, also congratulated Kyagulanyi and advised him to represent the people of Kyadondo honourably.
