Makerere University Senate meets today to vote the new vice chancellor from the three candidates who applied for the job.
They are; Prof. Edward Kirumira, the principal of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, the deputy vice chancellor in charge of finance and Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba, a former vice chancellor of the university.
Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA) chairman, Muhammad Kiggundu, says Senate will be selecting the most suitable person among the three.
The senate which is made up of 62 members is chaired by the outgoing VC Prof. Ddumba Ssentamu.
The University council, on the other hand, has 26 members headed by Dr. Wana Etyem.
During the voting process, the candidates will face the vote at two levels — first at the senate and then at the council.
The two names that will be selected through a vote will be sent to the chancellor, Dr. Ezra Suruma to make the final decision.
