Opposition Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] party says its youth leaders allegedly reported by the state have been missing for two weeks now.
They are; Robert Mayanja, the spokesperson of Jobless Brotherhood, George Wanzige, Ivan Kabaale and Ibrahim Kabaale.
In a statement released on Monday by the party deputy spokesperson, Paul Mwiru, the party says the youth are being detained at Nalufenya police facility in Jinja district without charge.
“We were told that they were picked by security personnel who were dressed in plain clothes who took them Nalufenya. It is against the law to detain a person beyond 48 hours without charging them in court,’’ Mwiru said.
Mwiru said it has become a habit by the state to kidnap, tortured and detain members of the opposition without charge.
He demanded the unconditional release of their youth leaders.
Mwiru further called on security agencies to use restraint when dealing with people who are suspected of committing crimes.
Mayanja was kidnapped after a yellow piglet was dropped near State House Nakasero last week.
