Soldiers from the national army [UPDF] on Saturday took part in a marathon to raise funds for constructing a casualty ward at Nkozi hospital.
Nkozi hospital organised a marathon to raise money for the establishment of an accident and emergency unit to save road accident victims on the Kampala- Masaka highway.
Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces soldiers participated in the run which started from the Equator today, Saturday at 0700hrs.
The army this week pledged support to his Eminence Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala in the bid to construct an additional lifesaving causality ward at Nkozi Hospital.
While addressing the press conference at Cardinal House Nsambya, acting deputy UPDF Spokesperson, Maj Kiconco Tabaro, said UPDF’s commitment adds a voice to the church.
He called upon all Ugandans to join the upcoming Fundraising run slated for June 17, 2017 beginning from the Equator on Kampla – Masaka road.
The function was graced by the Leader of Opposition in the Ugandan Parliament, Hon Winnie Kiiza, Prince Henry Wasajja, Director of Traffic Uganda police, Dr Stephen Kasiima, and other corporate organisations.
