3 dead, 21 hurt in Apaa land clashes

Three people are reported dead after armed men attacked residents of Apaa in Juka village, Adjumani District on Wednesday.

The attack left 21 other residents wounded and 60 huts burnt, according to Michael Lakony, the Amuru District chairperson.

In March, one person was killed and more than 130 huts burnt by armed thugs in Apaa.

Lakony told Daily Monitor the deceased were; Nyeko Openy Saihidi and Bosco Okwera Oringa who were killed using machetes, spears and bows and arrows.

The injured are being treated at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu Town and Paboo Health Centre III in Amuru District.

The Kilak North Member of Parliament, Anthony Akol, accuses First Deputy Prime Minister also the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County, Gen Moses Ali, of being behind the attacks.

The disputed land was demarcated by government and given to Adjumani District local government in 2015.
