The ruling National Resistance Movement [NRM] government has chosen Luwero to host this year’s Uganda National Heroes Day celebrations.
While updating the media about 9th June 28th heroes’ day celebration’s preparations at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on Monday, the minister for the Presidency, Esther Mbayo, said the venue was chosen strategically because Luwero was very influential in NRM’s struggle for heroism on our motherland.
“Celebrations of self-sacrifice will take place in Luwero on 9th June. A monument has been constructed at the venue,” she said.
The Chief Guest of the celebrations will be His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni.
A total of 365 medals will be dished out at the event held at Zirobwe sub county St Augustine Parish grounds under the theme “Self-Sacrifice is the Singular Heroic Pillar in Nation Building”.
“Uganda today, is as peaceful as she is because our grandparents died for us. They are our heroes and let’s all be there,” Mbayo said.
She said celebrations are not only for NRM but for all Ugandans which explains why the President is the Chief Guest.
“We are remembering lives of dear ones and their property. Luwero Triangle, Minister will update us on what has been done.”
