For the third time in a row, Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club has been declared champion of the FUFA Women Elite League.
The latest achievement was achieved on Sunday at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku stadium after a one sided 4-0 victory over UCU Lady Cardinals.
Juliet Nalukenge scored a brace in the 33rd and 57th minutes before Sharon Naddunga’s 78th minute goal and a late strike from second half substitute Favour Nambatya crowned the red letter day for the champions.
During the earlier third place playoff match, Uganda Martyrs’ High School Lubaga recovered from a goal down to defeat Soroti based Olila High School 3-2 in post-match penalties after normal time had ended one goal apiece.
FUFA women Executive member Agnes Mugena, executive committee member Chris Kalibala, FUFA Technical director Asuman Lubowa, women football officer Hadijah Namuyanja and Efrance Najjengo (chairperson of Uganda Women Football Association) graced the official medal, prizes and trophy presentation ceremony afterwards.
