Hoima Police are hunting for one of their own accused of shooting dead a driver of China Railway Number Five.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, told Uganda Radio Network [URN] the suspect as Corporal Oleni Omala.
He is wanted for shooting Benson Ojok, a driver of the Chinese firm at a stone quarry in Luhunga village in Buhimba Sub County at 8pm on Wednesday evening.
Ojok died while being rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
According to Hakiza, the officer shot his victims when he returned to the stone quarry, a few hours after parking his truck following the day’s work.
Omala was on guard duties at Buhimba camp, which is about 10 kilometer outside Hoima municipality and belongs to the Chinese contractors.
Hakiza explains that after shooting the deceased, fled into hiding with the killer the gun.
Hakiza says they have launched a manhunt to apprehend the officer and disarm him.
