Janet asks God to comfort Prof Mukiibi family

Former St Lawrence schools and colleges proprietor Prof. Lawrence Mukiibi’s requiem mass is underway at Rubaga Cathedral in Kampala.

The professor passed away on Sunday morning at Norvik Hospital in Kampala.

In her condolence message, the Minister of Education & Sports also the First Lady, Janet Museveni, called Mukiibi a humble servant of the people.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Sports and on my own behalf, I take this opportunity to convey our most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the Late Prof. Mukiibi Lawrence,” Janet said.

“…and to ask the Lord, the ever present comforter in times of trouble to comfort you at this difficult time.”


She said the ministry was cognizant of the tremendous contribution which the late Prof. Mukiibi Lawrence has made towards advancing the education standards for the country and the East African region as a whole.

“We will also remember with gratitude his contribution to the development and good management of private schools in the country.”

She added: “Private schools as we all know, have made a tremendous contribution to the improvement of education in the country.”

She said the sector shall remain greatly indebted to Prof. Mukiibi for this contribution.

Janet further hailed Prof. Mukiibi for mobilising private schools and institutions to participate in government educational programmes by availing his premises for use by the Ministry to execute its activities.
