Opposition Forum for Democratic Change [FDC] top leadership on Tuesday approached singer Robert Kyagulanyi as a matter of urgency concerning the Kyadondo East constituency by-election.

The seat formerly occupied by FDC’s Apollo Kantinti is also wanted by the ruling National Resistance Movement [NRM] candidate, Sitenda Sebalu.

Sebalu who lost the 2016 Kyadondo East Constituency polls by only 14 votes is now optimistic of winning the seat in the June 26 by-election with a big margin.

Kantinti is sure of retaining the seat, or so it seemed, until today when FDC made it clear that the musician’s involvement could cost them the seat.

“Today I was invited for a meeting with the FDC top leadership to find a way of harmonising the situation in Kyadondo East bielection,” Bobi Wine said, declining to reveal the venue of the meeting and the top FDC bosses who participated in it.

“I made it clear that although I am running as an INDEPENDENT candidate, I have many supporters in FDC since we are all forces of change and subscribe to the same ideology.”

Bobi Wine also suggested that FDC withdraws its candidate Hon. Apollo Kantinti in favour of his candidature so that “we can win with an even bigger margin than we are already doing”.

“I await their decision. In the meantime, we are warming up for nomination tomorrow morning at Kasangati Saza grounds and thereafter, I will address a rally at Wampeewo grounds.”

He added: “I hope my FDC family joins the winning team.”

According to the singer, the people of Kyadondo East have identified with the cause- they have embraced it with both hands; the elderly and the young, men and women, people from all religions and political shades.

“Who is winning the race? I am glad to report to my fans and supporters out there that we are winning this race,” Bobi said late last week.

“We are winning this election because the people of Kyadondo East have seen an opportunity to provide them with a people centered leadership.”

Bobi reiterated that the election is not about personalities but the people of Kyadondo and that his message is that of unity in the face of adversity, resilience in the face of intimidation and hope in the face of impossibilities.

Bobi will be nominated as an Independent Candidate for Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East Constituency tomorrow, Wednesday 31st May 2017 at Kasangati Saza grounds.

Meanwhile, Muwadda Nkunyingi, a voter in Kyadondo East, has dragged the Electoral Commission, Boib and IGP Gen Kale Kayihura to court for mishandling the ongoing voters register data update exercise.

Nkuyingi, one of aspirants in the oncoming by-election, accuses EC of allegedly let Bobi, an aspirant deal with updating the register which he claims to have witnessed.

He asked court to halt the exercise of updating the register and restrain both Bobi and Kayihura from interfering in the process.
