President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday attended the wedding reception of Isaac Aijuka Serwadda and Marion Alinda at UMA Main Exhibition Hall in Kampala.
“I am glad that young people are following my advice to get married and raise families,” Museveni said while speaking at the ceremony.
He said the middle class in Uganda has rejected the bad practices of some people who are against formation and running of families.
“I also thank the church for nurturing young people who are serving Uganda.”
He added: “As we grapple with a shortage of credible people, I urge the church to do more.”
Museveni said it was evident that families with strong religious foundation have raised good cadres who are serving the country well.
He thanked the Preacher, Eliasaph Serwadda, the groom’s father, and his wife, for bringing up a religious family and being satisfied with God.
“I also congratulate Isaac for finding a wife. I will give the new couple several head of cattle.”
Finally, he said, the Bible tells Christians about dominating nature.
“I urge Christians to irrigate your gardens. The government will supplement your efforts.”
