On Thursday, the Uganda Cranes conducted day two of non-residential training ahead of the upcoming regional tour to Kitara Region in Fort Portal slated for this coming Sunday.

Thirty one players reported for the Thursday morning training session at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

After the training, defender Savio Kabugo told www.fufa.co.ug that he is thrilled for the regional tour arrangement because it opens up for the young players and those rejuvenating an opportunity to the National Team.

“I am happy for the regional tour arrangement because it’s where I’ve been granted an opportunity to resurface at the National Team. So I have to use this opportunity to impress the coach that he reconsiders me for the senior side as a key player before the deadly injury,” said the excited Kabugo.

He added that after returning from injury he had to work hard that he regains his form and it can be realized from his team Proline which he saved from relegation.

The gigantic defender featured for the Cranes at CHAN 2014 and he is remembered for that building header at Namboole against Ghana during the AFCON 2015 qualifiers.

The team resumes training on Friday 26th May 2017 at Mandela National Stadium 9 am where the coach will read his final 22 players who will travel to Kitara region to face the regional select on Sunday.

The regional tours are jointly fuelled by Uganda Cranes main sponsors Airtel Uganda Limited and partners Nile Breweries Limited.

The main objective of the tours among others is to take the national team brand closer to the populous.

The team training resumes on Friday morning.
