Army vehicle with boots, uniforms intercepted at border

The vehicle was intercepted at Mutukula border

Joint chase of Ugandan Police and Tanzanian counterpart last week intercepted a stolen UPDF car at the border.

Toyota Premio registration number H4DF 1210 was intercepted after intelligence brief pointing the car to be heading to Mutukula, Uganda’s boarder with Tanzania.

It is against the above background that a joint team started the chase after the vehicle.

Greater Masaka Police Spokesperson, Lamech Kigozi, confirmed recovery of the vehicle saying, “When security attempted to stop them at Mutukula boarder, they sped off crossing into Tanzania.”

The thieves run off and abandoned the vehicle

He added that, “Tanzanian Police then joined the chase. On realising that, they abandoned the vehicle and escaped.”

Kigozi revealed that after the search, pair of army boots, pair of army uniform, 6 ceremonial badges and two warrants cards in names Charles Onyutha (RA/024991) and Rose Kobusingye (RA/22553) were recovered.

He said the vehicle has been handed over to Police at Mutukula as hunt for occupants continue.
