Kampala Capital City Authority Footfall Club (KCCA FC) today, Saturday be crowned winners of the 2016/17 Azam Uganda Premier League as they take on Sadolin Paints at Phillip Omondi stadium.
KCCA chairman, Julius Raymond Kabugo, says the mood in the camp is good with the players and technical staff focused to make sure the season ends on a good note.
He says the club has already invited many guests led by the Kampala Capital City Authority [KCCA] executive director, Jennifer Musisi.
“Lots of guests have been invited to come and be part of the celebrations,” Kabugo said.
Ahead of the team’s ‘coronation day’, Musisi and deputy Lord Mayor & Mayor Kampala Central, Sarah Kanyike, were handed their jerseys at city hall in Kampala.
“They are here, giving away 1000 replica jerseys to be given out this Saturday. Go buy your ticket for @ClubAfricainEN to enter the draw,” KCC FC said in a tweet, rallying fans and well-wishers to join the celebrations.
Team captain, Dennis Okot, says their target is to “go make sure they end the league campaign with maximum points”.
KCCA FC have so far garnered 63 points, six more than what was attained in the last campaign.
“We set ourselves the target of surpassing the points we got last season and thankfully we attained that but that doesn’t mean we relax because we need to stretch it further,” he said.
Team manager, Mike Hillary Mutebi, is ready to crush Sadolin Paints and end the season in style.
The first leg encounter against Sadolin Paints at Bugembe stadium ended in a one all draw.
“We do not underestimate our opponents. Despite facing the drop already, they have been one of our toughest opponents but our target is to make sure we get maximum points,” he is quoted as saying.
To this effect, Mutebi has summoned Dennis Rukundo, Geoffrey Serunkuuma, Brian Majwega and Isaac Kirabira who missed the Proline on Tuesday.
However, Allan Okello and Midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba will miss the concluding game.
Mutebi says loyal KCCA FC fans will have a reward of appreciation for the support throughout the season by accessing the stadium for free after which they will be treated to a party at Club Ambience.
“There will be an opportunity for 1000 lucky fans to win the new jersey that will be used next season,” KCC FC said, adding, “Only those that will come to Phillip Omondi stadium with tickets for the game against Club Africain on Tuesday will take part in the raffle draw.”
