Kyadondo East constituency aspirant, Apollo Kantinti, says his challenger and musician, Bobi Wine, is just an opportunist using the wrong time to manifest his political ambitions.
The duo was appearing on NBS TV morning breeze programme early in the week to push their agenda in the chase for this parliamentary seat.
Asked by host Simon Kaggwa Njala whether Bobi Wine’s comments were stinging him, Kantinti said Bobi seemed to speak of things that he [Kantinti] had done through the Mayor.
“The Mayor is an ardent fan of Bobi Wine. He publicly asked me to stay away from the issues of the constituency,” Kantinti said.
Kantinti, a politician and activist, then turned to his rival and queried: “can you convince the viewers that you aren’t coming in as an opportunist?”
Bobi confidently replied that he was coming as a revolutionary.
Kantinti reminded Bobi that court hasn’t condemned him or his supporters for any wrong doing.
“Bobi Wine is excited about this position at a wrong time.”
He added: “In this race, we are going to need decency and respect. I have been at the fore front of this unlike my brother.”
Asked whether he wanted Kantinti to step down for him, Bobi replied: “That would be the right thing to do. I have a bigger voice.”
But Kantinti who was not yet defeated pointed out: “My brother here said he is coming in this race as a leader and not a politician but it seems he is playing too much politics.”
He added: “Bobi Wine has a right to stand for the seat. However it is going to be hard for him since it is his first time.”
