Government of Uganda has resolved to give the late Mzee Boniface Byanyima and official state funeral.
This was announced Thursday by Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda in a press statement.
According to Rugunda, during Cabinet on Wednesday May 17, President Yoweri Museveni briefed ministers about the passing of Byanyima and directed an official burial be directed for him.
Rugunda on the same day chaired a meeting attended by Democratic Party [DP] president Norbert Mao, representatives of the family and responsible ministers to discuss the burial arrangements.
According to the programme, Byanyima’s body will lie in state at Parliament tomorrow Friday for a public viewing and for Members of Parliament to pay tribute to the late.

On Saturday, there will be a funeral service at St Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe.
On Sunday, there will be another service at the late’s home in Ruti, Mbarara district before burial at around 4:00PM.
Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni will be paying his respects to the late Mzee Byanyima this evening.
“He will visit the home of Anthony Byanyima,” said the presidential press secretary, Lindah Nabusayi.
Mzee Boniface Byanyima, passed away at Nakasero hospital at the age of 97 years this week.
